“Bicycles are the most widespread means of transport in many markets around the world, so this is just one more benefit to be gained from an activity people are already doing,” said Alex Lambeek, Nokia vice president in a statement. There have been many innovations in the world of mobile phones this one of those which may last forever.
Nokia has announced a bike powered phone charger. The charger kit uses the dynamo power of the bicycle’s wheels. In other words, your pedaling is converted into power. For charging your phone you just need to pedal with a minimum speed of 6km/h (4mph) which is equivalent to the normal walking speed. If a cyclist maintains a speed of 10km/h (6mph) for just 10 minutes then he/she will get a talk time of about 28 minutes or 37 hours of standby.
Apart from the charger the kit consists of a big rubber-band holder that secures the phone while it is being charged. This kit will be first available in Kenya for around $18 and will be launched worldwide by the end of this year.
